Happy new year everybody.

I'm writing this sitting in the control room in studio one of Strongroom studios in London, as we enter our last day of recording bass & drums for our album. Rob's already thrashing the fuck out of his kit in the live room, while I'm still desperately trying to wake myself up. Feeling hungover without having drunk for five days. How does that happen?

This weekend represents a bit of a strange feeling for me in many ways as it brings a chapter to a close and heralds in the next phase of Slashed Seat Affair. Having been so involved from day one, it really has been a wholly cathartic experience, as collectively we've been through a whole catalogue of feelings, moods and arguments to get to this point. I think we all feel suitably proud of things so far.

Being signed and involved with an indie label has not only allowed us the creative freedom to do what we want but has facilitated the need to be resourceful regarding the financial aspect of making an album, which can be a costly exercise. The only downside being that it takes a bit longer to pull everything in place, but the sense of achievement is enhanced as the pieces gradually fall into place.
However, the next step is the hardest. The business aspect involving the release of the debut single, followed by the album, getting pluggers and decent PR on board then which will hopefully result in our music being heard on the radio. This will require nothing less than a huge effort from us all involving cunning, stealth, blackmail and the simple matter of lots and lots good old fashioned hard work. Oh....and some money of course.
Everyone has worked so hard getting things to this point, but 2008 will mark the start of phase two. It's the end of the beginning. Everything has changed, but nothing has changed.

Happy 2008!
