Last Saturday you may have seen half of Slashed Seat Affair on the BBC! Yes, that's right - we snuck onto terrestrial television just for your viewing pleasure!

Last Saturday 17th May me and Darren (possibly the only bad grammar I use intentionally) rocked up at the Cactus Studios in Kennington at some ungodly hour.. 7.45 am I do believe.... We looked at each other bleary eyed 'What the hell are we doing!?'.. Another one of my 'crazy shit' ideas!  Although hang on, it is my favourite show. James Martin - if you're reading this, I will also be eternally GUTTED I couldn't be on the show with you... Ahhh dammit.

Anyway... After 5 minutes in make up - all for Darren, (please see accompanying photo!) we settled down in an empty green room to plan how best to plug Slashed Seat Affair on the TV whilst reading yesterday's papers and eating stale chocolate croissant. (Can you believe it! Stale croissant on Saturday Kitchen!)

Just after we worked out the game plan - in comes a runner to brief, brief and brief us again making us promise on our own lives not to promote or plug or announce any website addresses UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES... We signed the legal papers and thought best not to worry about being sued - go ahead as planned we thought, and we laughed amongst ourselves. Ahhh..

And then my, what a big set it was! Right on the set of Richard and Judy too! BBC celebrity central. There he was - old John Torodes galloping about the set with a slightly sweaty brow, madly rehearsing his opening lines.. Ahh this is what I call a Saturday morning in the kitchen.

After being fixed up with a mic and an almighty name badge. Hear that Torodes? An almighty name badge. We shuffled into our seats at the Chef's Table and concentrated really hard on all of the instructions being thrown at us with two minutes to go til live...

Oh, and then we were on air - got the illegal band plug in within my first sentence. Job done - I could sit back and wait for the lawsuit. Alexei Sayle was the celebrity guest and what a teddy bear he was! At one point he turned to me and whispered 'What time does this show go on til?!' I don't think he was a fan. Darren and Alexei swapped notes in between the live bits on the best Jewish fish. Or something!

Afterwards me and Darren slumped over the kitchen and ate as much of the curry and strawberry wotsit thingy that we could shove in our mouths before the camera crew descended like crows. Janet came and cleared up afterwards. Thanks Janet! We drank quite a bit of wine too and made our way over to the green room via getting lost on Richard and Judy's set. Was that Judy's wig I saw hanging up back stage?! I thought so.

We chatted to the lovely Jun Tanaka and Gerardo Contaldo in the Green room. Darren got hammered whilst I was calm and composed of course - helping myself to the lovely wine, opening a bottle of Rosé, enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc, bit of Chardonnay and then enjoyed the long cab ride home. Ok. I was drunk too. Drunk at Saturday Kitchen! And before midday. NAUGHTY!
